We first met Gregg + Ann for coffee last year to chat about being a part of their day and we left feeling like we had made two lifelong friends. They are amongst the kindest and warmest couples we’ve been so blessed to serve this year and their wedding day mirrored their love in such a grand way! From speeches and even from our own time spent with them, we’ve witnessed that these two put others’ needs before their own with such a warm and inviting presence. We love serving people with big hearts like that!
Around them, we all enjoyed such a relaxed and happy morning. If they were nervous, it didn’t show. There was so rush. No stress. Just joy!
Their bridal parties were so encouraging and loving – especially Ann’s Mom + Bridesmaids when Ann was getting into her wedding dress!
They lovingly doted on Ann with sweet compliments while they helped her pin any loose strands of her hair. They buttoned the back of her beautiful dress, they prayed together, and they shared many audible AWWs as they watched all of Ann’s bridal details come together.
Oh Ann, you are so beautiful! I loved putting these two sweet moments in Black + White to properly showcase how Classic your Bridal Look photographed!
When Gregg said his home church and their ceremony site would be along River Road, we knew it must be gorgeous!
When our families and friends visit us in Richmond, one of our favorite ways to wow them is by taking them on a Sunday drive down the bendy River Road to see all of the mansions. Living up to its expectations of grandeur, our heads were on swivel as we walked into this larger than life church. The whole setting had a royal elegance especially with the sunlight pouring through the tall windows lining the aisle.
Moments before Dad walked his little girl down a very BIG aisle, I watched these two patiently waiting and praying arm-in-arm while they waited for the church organs to start playing their song.
Gregg saw Ann for the first time that day coming down the aisle and although we couldn’t see his face up close, we could feel the gentle magic.
Even at their Engagement Session at the University of Virginia, we were completely smitten with the way they already generously loved each other.
Sam and I knew ahead of time that during the actual ceremony, we would be limited to photography from the balcony in the far back. We prepared by bringing our zoom lenses which we really only use for proposals now, but the pictures from a distance really do share the magnificence of this church.
The reception was held at an equally impressive venue and now one of our favorite golf course venues, Independence Golf Club. Guests were treated to a cocktail hour, dinner, dancing and the most incredible sunset from the balcony overlooking the greens.
When we arrived with the Bridal Party, we were pointed towards a line of golf carts just for us – each stocked with cold water bottles for everyone – thank you Independence, that was so incredibly thoughtful!!
We sped past the driving range (collecting a few eye-rolls from golfers) up to a sunny hill overlooking the clubhouse.
For the last couple of Bride + Groom portraits we found a quiet, little shady spot. (While we prayed we wouldn’t be hit by a rouge golf ball!)
We LOVE taking portraits of Gregg + Ann and I could have kept them so much longer than our timeline allowed – they are so comfortable with each other which makes them so easy to pose! It is such a bonus that they also love having their photos taken even in mid-July’s heat! We showed Gregg how to do a “slightly dipped kiss” and then at their First Dance he FULLY dip-kissed Ann like three times! Gregg, you rocked it!
These are two of our favorite bridal portraits of them! Seriously, these two are just perfect together!!! Ann’s Dad gave the sweetest toast. He said he was so incredibly thankful for Gregg for so many reasons. He joked that Gregg was not only the perfect southern gentleman for his daughter, but that he could always count on Gregg for fixing things!
He also said one bit of advice that has been so helpful in our own marriage thus far.
Daily, you are encouraged to die to yourself in marriage. Die to your pride and selfishness to put the other’s needs before your own. Loving your Wife like Christ loved the church and loving your Husband in ways that build him up with respect and thoughtfulness. Figuring out what all that means and the depth of that love is a dance that is refined over time… and it’s the best dance full of dip kisses, twirls, and even stepping on each others toes every once in a while. But you’re a team and you keep dancing.
The rest of the evening was spent hugging their guests, cutting a slice out of their beautiful cake and exiting through the LONGEST line of sparklers we’ve ever photographed! The perfect end to the best day!
Gregg + Ann,
You guys have such a pure and warm-hearted love that we can’t stop talking about. A love that is patient, thoughtful, and already so inspiring. Even from dating as I’m sure you guys know from all those long distance years, that your relationship blossoms in such epic ways when you both put God first and trust the season’s adventure. Being a newlywed and moving into your new place together as husband and wife is so much fun, and we are so excited for this next season of your life! (After all those thank you cards are written, at least!) Thank you so much for letting us share this joyful beginning with you and your favorite people! We love you both!!!
Love,
The Tuckers
