Tyler + Allison gathered their friends and family the Friday before Christmas to witness and celebrate one of the most beautiful winter weddings! This day was extra special for us because Allison was actually one of my girls from YoungLife years ago when she was just in Middle School! She was a sweetie back then and she’s a grown-up sweetie now.

The whole property of Rixey Manor has been beautifully restored to it’s 19th century glory, which perfectly suites it’s surrounding farm pastures and rolling hills. Owners Ben + Isadora consistently provide such a wonderful and well-organized experience!

Allison, you are a real life Disney Princess!!! So gorgeous!

Allison and Tyler decided to share a “First Look,” which is a planned moment before the ceremony designed for the Bride + Groom to privately see each other for the first time on their Wedding Day. With the sun setting early in late December, this allowed both of them to take their portraits with natural light as well as have an un-rushed moment to take it all in.

Is that not one of the most beautiful winter bouquets you’ve ever seen?!

How they Met:  Since our fun WyldLife/YoungLife days together, Allison found a man who truly loves her.

Allison’s younger sister Sarah (also one of my YL girls!!) was on Skype with an old boyfriend while she and Allison were hanging out one day. Through the old boyfriend’s computer screen, Tyler saw Allison in the background and jokingly started intruding on the Skype date to get a better look at her. A week later he got her phone number!!

From Texas to Virginia, they spent several years dating long distance since Tyler currently serves in the US Army.  In his speech, Tyler’s Best Man talked about the bravado and authenticity that Tyler always has had. We also saw how he melted around Allison and treated her like a princess even when we weren’t photographing them. He ran past us sometime during the reception and said something along the lines of “excuse me, going to go get my wife a drink,” with a smile.

My heart is happy to see her so happy!

What a good looking and well-dressed bunch of friends!!

Incoming guests were greeted with blankets and a hot chocolate bar to keep them cozy during the open-air rooftop ceremony.

When Allison approached the aisle with her Dad, she was glowing.

The moment when it sinks in that your little girl is a Bride.

In a few fleeting strides Allison and her Dad reached the altar.  When the officiant asked who gives away this Bride today, you could feel her Dad’s heart in his throat when he answered.

The evening was spent laughing at speeches and toasts, dancing (and break dancing), and many spontaneous group toasts at the old-style bar to celebrate the newlyweds.

The Christmas season just added to the reason for a night of endless celebrating!

What a beautiful wedding to kick off your marriage! Seeing you as a joyful Bride this day was something I’ll always cherish. I still feel like an honorary big sister to all of you YL girls. Since our days spent running around Rockbridge Camp and talking about the crazy ways Jesus loves us, I’ve prayed for all of you girls to find someone who deserves you. This day was an answered prayer! You and Tyler are pure magic together and you’ve now been married a WEEK?! You both chose such a fun season to celebrate all of your future anniversaries together. May they always be merry and full of quality family time! We adore you both!
