Oh man, do I have a special Wedding to share today!! Mary + Rob are MARRIED!!

Mary is one of my oldest friends (from 1st grade!!!), she was one of my Bridesmaids in 2013 (and Rob was her plus one!!), and now on December 14th 2019, Sam and I had the greatest honor of being their Wedding Photographers!

I’ve never checked the weather forecast more than I have in the last 7 days, mostly because of how I wanted this day to be perfect for Mary, but also because it would mean that we actually had a RAIN-FREE YEAR of Weddings!!

It could not have been a more beautiful day to drink wine, dine under candlelight, and celebrate!!

It takes a village to pull off ANY Wedding, and Mary’s village is full of truly wonderful and fun people!! Five sets of hands helped iron out every crease of Mary’s elegant Wedding gown, while getting her hair and makeup done. (Yes, Mona!! Go Nats!!)

At Mary’s Bridal Shower, my tea-loving friend asked that we each bring a new tea for her to try! Then she sent all of us home with our very own tea set! I loved incorporating that into her detail images!

Rob gifted her a new pair of Maui Jim sunglasses that she’d wanted!!

This was such a surreal moment seeing Mary in her WEDDING DRESS!!

She looked like the most elegant bridal princess :,) Which she’ll totally laugh at that sentence because she says she NEVER wears dresses or does “girly” or “over the top” things!!

Meanwhile, Rob + his guys had a blast playing Mario Kart, drinking whiskey and not taking life too seriously. There was no lack of personality in this group!! Haha!!

How They Met

Mary was visiting one of her best friends (and Bridesmaid!) down at the University of Mary Washington.

“I was definitely more interested in him, but he eventually came around! We bonded over the Washington Capitals and the love of my dog – Rob always jokes that she is the reason he was interested in me.” Haha!

They shared such a happy First Look!

Early Mountain Vineyards has the most beautiful backdrop for photos!!

I LOVED Mary’s veil!! I know every time there was wind, poor Mary froze, but wind was picking up the veil perfectly!

How He Asked:

After 6 years together, Rob brought Mary back to a secret beach beside Great Falls where they went on their first date. It became “their spot” which not a lot of people know about nor easily accessible, but it’s absolutely BEAUTIFUL. We did their Engagement Session there!

The friends danced all the way down to a private room while they waited for the guests to gather in the cocktail space. They excitedly broke into the the VERY nice bottle of Whiskey that Mary’s gifted to Rob earlier that morning!

If you know Mary, then you know how TALENTED of a baker she is!! I knew whatever she chose to serve was going to be incredible and plentiful, but WOW. Mary and her family made SO MANY yummy treats as well as a few from another bakery! Mary had made at least 6 different flavors of colorful macaroons, all of which were to die for!!

The line was longer for the dessert table than for the bar!!

The rest of the night was spent celebrating, toasting, and dancing with their guests!!

Where do I even begin with you goofballs?! We love you both so much and this was truly a day we will always cherish having been behind the scenes with you!! You two light up around each other and it’s an infectious joy that is so photogenic!! Your big and wonderful community of family + friends LOVE YOU, and we are so excited to cheer you guys on as you start your lives together as Husband and Wife! AHH! What a BEAUTIFUL and FUN day to kick off your marriage!!! Congratulations, newlyweds!!
