Friends, we are still in awe over last Saturday’s New Year’s Eve Wedding! Josh + Laura threw the party of the year in one of Richmond’s most grand venues, the Bolling Haxall House. Think ultra high ceilings, deep jewel tones, and an old Richmond historic charm.
Hey, Guess what? When Josh was born, Laura’s mom was actually the first one who brought over food to her home just so that his mom would have one less struggle. Oh how seeds from one act of kindness can bloom!! They each come from huge families and loving communities who put others’ needs before their own.
Double Guess what? They grew up together. Their families went to the same church and they went to the same high school.
Okay last Guess What – their first official date was on New Years Eve. 🙂
Laura’s sweet mom and two sisters helped her get dressed. Laura’s dress had delicate buttons lined all the way down her back to the bottom of her skirt. (I was obsessed with this dress!!)
Sam and I fell head over heels in love with photographing Weddings because we get to be submerged into The Best Day of our couple’s lives. We love hanging with the bridal parties who dote on their beloved friends and tell us stories on why these two are meant to be. We savor moments when their Grandparents squeeze our hands in delight as we show them a back of the camera shot.
We feel the emotion down to our toes when a Dad sees their little girl in her wedding dress and he simply can’t hold back his adoration.
Laura’s first look with her girls was so sweet! They tearfully looked over at me and asked, “Can we hug her?!” It’s so funny when bridesmaids ask US if they can hug their best friend!
UM YES! Please hug! Hug all day!!
Gentlemen donning tuxedos – weak at the knees! Am I right, ladies?!
Laura walked down a three-story spiral staircase to greet Josh for the first time on their Wedding day. When she got to the bottom, they both couldn’t hold back their tears of joy. It was so sweet!
Okay, I never do this BUT this photo below is an aerial iPhone picture one of the Bridesmaid’s took of all of the girls sneaking a peek at this moment! How cute is that?! Great shot, Laura W! 🙂
Ha! I love them 🙂
We get a glimpse into our Bride and Groom’s love in it’s purest stage on their wedding day – blissful and re-promised. It’s the most beautiful whirlwind that we get invited to document.
This Wedding served as a true testimony to how much Jesus loves each of us. It was a visual and emotional reminder of what it looks like to trust the plan God has for each of us.
Like I mentioned before, Josh + Laura actually first met when they were kids at church. They didn’t spark any relationship until one day when Laura moved back to Virginia from California and they reconnected at a Christmas party. They reconnected over their shared joy for adventure. Josh proposed to Laura during a roadtrip through Alaska – does it get more adventurous than that?!
Before prayer at the ceremony, Laura’s Dad came up and expressed about how grateful he was for this Wedding day. He said this ceremony was a reflection of how joyful heaven will be and how the best is yet to come. What an honestly cool Dad. (Pretty sure I had the same reaction as this guy while I was photographing over in the corner trying to keep it together!)
On New Year’s Eve, their two big families with even bigger hearts gathered to celebrate and ring in the new year. I’ll tell ya what….Sam and I have never witnessed such an epic dance party – it was literally a non-violent mosh pit whenever a good rap song came on!
The Boyers LOVEEE to get down and dance! (#BoyerTheyGoodDancers) I wish I could sneak them into every wedding we photograph because they make the party! I mean this crowd Did. Not. Stop. Dancing.
Between the INCREDIBLE sets that the Katz band played and the trusty iPod full of dance party jams, there was not a dull moment on the dance floor.
Guests even were bringing their hors d’oeuvres out onto the dance floor because they didn’t want miss a second of the fun!
Conga lines, cardboard cutouts limbo, the Bride and Groom getting hoisted into a crowd-surf, dancing with a donut in one hand and the other in the air, and even a Bridesmaid arm wrestling the MC – guys this was the best New Year’s Party maybe ever.
So…This happened! AND SHE WON!!
#BoyerWeGettinLow
Josh even got up on stage to sing his new bride a song that he wrote with his buddies and it was really good!!! The crowd went wild and screamed ENCORE!, but he was too busy kissing his #1 fan!
The night flying by, bells were quickly handed out to ring in the New Year! The MC started the countdown and the bells were a ringin’!
…….3, 2, 1 …. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!
Josh + Laura,
You two know how to throw one killer party, that is for darn sure! You guys read each other so well and know how to infuse every situation with joy and thankfulness, which definitely leads to a fun marriage! Sam and I are so honored to have spent this day celebrating your new adventure! Wishing your marriage to be overflowing with selfless love for each other, and for your friends and families who adore you both! We love you guys!
