Last Saturday, Ty + Katey finally said “I DO” at Virginia Cliffe Inn in Glen Allen, Virginia. Ever since their Engagement Session, Sam and I have been counting the days until we could join them to celebrate their wedding day!!
Sam and I arrived to the house before the bridal party to photograph some details, which Katey had put aside for us ahead of time. Among them was her own Bible which I opened to find Katey’s own underlinings and notes. How fitting that these verses truly encompassed Katey + Ty’s love for others. What is so charming about these two is that they walk the walk and talk the talk of a loving Christian.
In the short time we’ve known Katey + Ty, we are inspired by them. We heard stories from their friends and family about their acts of kindness and generosity. But also by the way that they knew the significance of this day has always been bigger than throwing one heck of a wedding.
Running in the same circles of YoungLife, they both made many life-long friends who also felt called to build others up. They share life with Jesus as a buddy and show others how to do the same. YoungLife is a worldwide, non-denominational ministry that gives kids in high school and middle school a fun atmosphere where kids can be free to come as WILD as they are and be surrounded by people who say “you are enough and you are the Lord’s,” as Katey has written below.
The girls all arrived in high spirits and started dancing and singing while getting ready. If you followed along on our instagram story, you caught us singing along with them to “Goin’ to the Chapel!” These girls were a blast…and super cute in these matching robes!!
Close to 15 minutes before the ceremony, we acted fast to squeeze in the sweetest part of the morning.
Wanting to pray together before the day took off at full speed, they decided to share a first interaction. We blindfolded Ty and when Katey walked in the room, she was overcome with emotion. They held hands and Ty asked her how her morning was going and how she was feeling.
Ty prayed out loud thanking God more than once for bringing Katey into his life.
Their closest friends also wanted to pray with each of them.
Mother like son, Ty’s mom also voiced thanks for bringing Katey into her life as another daughter. How sweet is that?! The girls’ prayer ended in all the girls fanning their eyelashes dry and laughing saying “oh my gosh I can’t cry yet!!”
Bridal Glow perfection!
They’re MARRIED!! Here’s some of our favorite Bridal Party portraits in this pretty dappled sunlight! Those blues and hues of purple and lavender were PERFECTION!
I loved that Katey tied everyone’s colors together with the purples in her bouquet and blue ribbon crafted by Carbon + Salt.
Katey you are a bridal vision!! So beautiful!!
Because we had more than enough time to spare in our timeline, Sam and I told the newlyweds to just take a moment and relax unposed. They smiled at each other’s new rings and held hands.
I can’t even with these two. Just so adorable!!!
Sugar Shack Donuts, you are my love language.
There’s something about JMU Dukes and a dance floor… They just get WILD when a good song comes on and they DO NOT STOP. Even in 90 degree weather…Even after the bride and groom exit! It’s never vulgar either – just pure, crazy fun!
They’re the ones with shirts over their heads, crowd-surfing the groom, and even splitting pants down the back seam all in the name of a good time. If you can find them, all three are featured in these dancing favorites below!
This girl caught the bouquet like a boss with her sunglasses on in the middle of the night. I want to be friends with her!
Ty + Katey,
You two have a love worth celebrating! Your relationship has already moved this world. It is exciting to imagine all the big and small ways God will use your marriage to not only inspire others, but to change hearts “in ways only Ty + Katey Corning can.” We are so overjoyed for you both! Cheers to a marriage full of fun and joy forever! We love you guys!
Love,
The Tuckers
