Last Saturday was the grand finale of our incredible 2018 Wedding Season and we are so thankful to have spent it celebrating this wonderful couple! Sidney + Alicia are two people who are beautiful on the inside and out.

They really wanted a big party feeling to their Wedding! This was a second marriage for both of them, so they didn’t want any additional frills and fuss, and therefore asked if we could take more of a photojournalistic/just capture the emotion type of Wedding Photography! They wanted a day full of memories with their most loved people, good food and drinks, a packed dance floor, hugs and high fives, and a joyful celebration to start their lives together.

It was an amazing day!!!

I literally gasped when I walked in and saw this gorgeous, extra large canvas print on display to welcome their guests! This image from their Engagement Session is one of our 2018 favorites for sure!!

When we did our final timeline call with Alicia and asked what photos would be most important to her and right away she mentioned that her Dad’s health was declining. She asked for as many pictures of him as we could take if he was able to make it to her Wedding.

But Mr. Dan has hung in there and his presence made all the difference! He was smiling ear to ear during their First Look together, and even sticking his tongue out to make Alicia laugh during pictures, which I didn’t even notice he did until I was looking back through those images!

Each had their own tearful vows about how much they loved each other. One part that was especially heartfelt was when they said that early on in their relationship, they were worried about missing out on having a lot of “firsts” together. But then they said that all their firsts truly compliments their lasts.

“Nothing about our relationship has been textbook, but I wouldn’t change any of it…You’ll be my last first date…and the last person I see before I go to bed…”

As soon as Alicia finished her vows, Sidney was so overcome with love that he leaned in to try and give Alicia a kiss, to which she squeezed his hands and joked “not yet!!!” Everyone was crying and then laughing and then wiping away more tears once their kids starting singing a beautiful rendition of ‘God Bless the Broken Road.’

It was a really special and beautiful ceremony!

Believe it or not, these two used to be Science teachers at the same local Richmond high school, which is where they first met!!

Now I don’t know about you, but my Science teachers were NEVER this good-looking!! Haha!!! They also joked that all of their students kept telling them that they will eventually date and get married!! 

They are the most beautiful soulmates! I am so glad these two found each other!!

Now they are one big family forever!

The rest of the night was spent laughing and dancing under string lights with their friends and families!

 There were quite a few dance-offs and funny dance moves, especially when Sidney’s football guys all started to circle up and feed off of each other’s energy!

This over-the-shoulder move below really made me nervous!! Ha!!

Oh my gosh we adore you both so much!! This was the perfect celebration to kick off your marriage!! Also, we still can’t get over how our families are connected from back in the day!? I am so thankful that OUR paths have now crossed and that we were able to spend this day witnessing such a testimony to true love. The things that you two think make your relationship imperfect are actually what make you guys a beacon of light to others who may need a little hope. Neither Sam or I were good at Science, but we are pretty darn good at recognizing two people who are the real deal. It was no accident that you met when you did, but all part of a divine plan that we are so grateful to have photographed. We love you both and we are so excited for all your new firsts, lasts and everything that compliments those moments in-between!! Have the BEST HONEYMOON!! 🙂
