Zach + Cherie | Wedding at The Jepson

June 19, 2018

Share

Zach + Cherie met in Washington D.C. in the spring of 2014 at a happy hour. Zach’s roommate at the time (who was also Cherie’s coworker) had invited Zach. The happy hour was actually Cherie’s “going away” party thrown before she started a new job with a major news network. As the guest of honor, Cherie naturally caught Zach’s attention…and sparks flew!

A few weeks later Zach and Cherie went on their first date. They met at the Georgetown Waterfront for an afternoon drink on the river which quickly turned into an all-day affair of getting to know one another, strolling around Georgetown streets and dinner. After spending hours together they finally said goodbye, both knowing they had found something special.

Special Details that the Bride has with her bouquet, her rings and getting in her wedding dress.

Cherie and her girls got ready at the Jepson Alumni Executive Center in Fredericksburg. Cherie’s dress was absolutely stunning!! She wrapped her grandparent’s handkerchief around her bouquet.

Zach and his Groomsmen got ready a few streets away at Kenmore Inn before hoping on the trolley to take them to the church.

Before the Trolley came back to pick up the girls, Cherie shared a First Look with her Dad! How cute was his reaction?!

Cherie is french for “darling,” but today she was also elegant and timeless. Love these iconic pictures we took!

The two were married at St Mary’s of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church were Cherie’s parents were married. Zach stared adoringly at his Bride more times than I can count during the ceremony. It was the sweetest!!!

The newlyweds exited the church to a Bubble Exit before hoping back on the trolley with the Bridal Party!

We all trolleyed over to Chatham Manor, the historic and a very charming gem in Fredericksburg, Virginia! The gardens and overlook over the Fredericksburg skyline were such a beautiful backdrop for these portraits!

We can’t say enough wonderful things about Jenny Keen with Greenery + Grace event planning. She shared this behind the scenes story with me that is too cute not to share:

Zach + Cherie snuck away to take a breather and freshen up before the Reception started. When Jenny went to go check on them, she found them completely alone upstairs and practicing the steps to their First Dance using one of their iPhones to softly play their song.

They moved effortlessly on the dance floor when it was time for their official First Dance, and in the dances that followed with their parents.

Bride and Groom's first dance, mother son dance, father daughter dance

One dance in particular that we love seeing is the Anniversary Dance where all married couples are called to the dance floor. As the song continues, the announcer lists off years until the couple who has been married the longest is still dancing.

Chuck + Mary, Cherie’s Godparents, had been married over 55 years! When they realized they were the last ones dancing, Uncle Chuck walked right up to the band, grabbed a microphone right off the stand and called the Bride and Groom over to give a bit of marriage advice that the crowd went wild over!

“Kiss her like an Angel in the morning…and love her like a devil at night!”

How hilarious is that?!

We snuck the newlyweds outside for a few quick minutes to catch this gorgeous pink sunset. Fireflies were floating all around them as we took these pictures!

The cooled off weather allowed guests to spend the rest of the evening in and around courtyard with cigars and dancing to the live band inside. It was truly a special day that perfect for this beautiful couple!

Zach + Cherie,

You two threw one darn great Wedding! Sam and I are so honored to have been there with you to celebrate and cheer you on during this whole season of planning your lives together!
